{"id":627,"date":"2024-10-02T15:18:40","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T15:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/?p=627"},"modified":"2024-10-02T15:18:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T15:18:42","slug":"how-to-battle-fear-and-worry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/02\/how-to-battle-fear-and-worry\/","title":{"rendered":"HOW TO BATTLE FEAR AND WORRY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong><u>CHANGE WON\u2019T HAPPEN WITHOUT TRUST<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every Christian has to decide:&nbsp; Am I trusting that Jesus is for me always, or am I believing His care for me diminishes based on my performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is Jesus my king, provider, and comforter? Or, is He a distant authority figure watching me weather storms alone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Matthew 14:22 -33<\/strong>, the disciples found themselves at this crossroads.&nbsp;&nbsp; They were in the middle of a storm, frightened and hopeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus approaches them and says,\u201d \u201c<strong><em>Take Heart; it is I.&nbsp; Do not be afraid.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apprehensive and uncertain, Peter calls out to Jesus,\u201d <em>Lord, if it\u2019s you tell me to come to you on the water.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter walks on water with Jesus full of faith and trust.&nbsp;&nbsp; But the moment is broken as soon as the wind kicks up and Peter lets fear creep back in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like Peter, everything changes when we trust that Jesus wants the best for us.&nbsp; We can stop worrying.&nbsp;&nbsp; We can embrace change.&nbsp; But inevitably, the wind kicks up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alarm doesn\u2019t go off.&nbsp; You get news from your boss you weren\u2019t expecting.&nbsp; A friend betrays you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In those moments when worry creeps in, we can look to Jesus or start looking for ways to keep ourselves afloat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"799\" height=\"389\" src=\"https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image.png 799w, https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-768x374.png 768w, https:\/\/bibleholyghost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-150x73.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>WAYS TO FOCUS ON JESUS TODAY<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>SPEND TIME IN THE BIBLE<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I am not looking for Jesus daily, my perception of Him goes from good King to enemy.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; His plans look terrifying and my ways look better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keeping our perspective in check starts with us knowing who we\u2019re putting our trust in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">READING BIBLE shows us more about Jesus and builds trust in our hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>SERVE SOMEONE ELSE FOR A CHANGE<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I focus more on myself than the people around me, I focus more on my doubt and fear.&nbsp;&nbsp; Serving others allows me to remember that life is not all about me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Serving also allows me to come face to face with situations I can\u2019t fix or control.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, as I reach out to serve others, I find myself reaching up to Jesus more and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>PRAY<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prayer doesn\u2019t have to be super religious, lengthy, and eloquent.&nbsp;&nbsp; God also loves raw, honest prayers.&nbsp;&nbsp; When Peter was afraid and sinking, he didn\u2019t say,\u201d <em>Jesus, Holy Messiah, save me if it is your will.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp; <strong><em>He said,\u201d Lord save me!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Matthew 14:30<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of us avoid prayer because we think we have to impress someone.&nbsp; Prayer isn\u2019t for me to impress Jesus.&nbsp; He knows my heart.&nbsp; Prayer allows me to grow by being open and honest with Jesus and myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>HANG OUT WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO FOLLOW JESUS<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is power in numbers.&nbsp; We\u2019re more likely to have faith and be less fearful when we\u2019re surrounded by people who point us back to Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hebrews 10: 24-25<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus\u2019s love, provision, and sovereignty are always present.&nbsp;&nbsp; But I can see those things more clearly through the love and support of Christian friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Celebrating God\u2019s miracles in each other\u2019s lives helps to make those moments real and gives us touchstones to go back to when fear creeps in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter was only able to walk on water when he kept his eyes on Jesus.&nbsp;&nbsp; The miracle of change, the ability to do the impossible, comes when we do the same\u2014putting our eyes on Jesus rather than the storms that surround us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
