WHO IS SATAN AND WHY DID HE REBEL AGAINST GOD?
PART -1
According to the Old Testament, Satan (or Lucifer, as he was called when he was an angel)
was one of God’s creations. Two Old Testament passages Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel
28:11-19 allude to the angel Lucifer’s original position as a very exalted being, and likely the
highest ranking of all the angels.
Ezekiel 28:12-15 also states that in addition to being powerful, it’s likely that Lucifer was the
most beautiful of all God’s creations. He walked on God’s Holy Mountain and was anointed
to serve God as a member of the guardian Cherubim, amongst the highest rank of angels in
God’s Holy host second only to the Seraphim Ezekiel 28: 14. He was an angel known as the
“Moring star.” Ezekiel 28:14, Isaiah 14:12. Lucifer was ordained a cherub was no small
honor. In heaven, the cherubim hold such a position of celestial prominence that God
himself sits “enthroned between the cherubim” Isaiah 37: 16.
But Lucifer was not satisfied with his lot in heaven as “God’s favorite angel.”
Instead, Lucifer wanted to become God himself and planned what could essentially be called
a military coup to overthrow God and take over as leader of the Universe. In essence, Satan
rebelled against God because he wasn’t happy as an assistant to God but instead wanted to
be called God.
Believe me, my brothers and sisters, Satan hates the Old Testament very much and hates
people who read it. Do you know why?
His true identity and how he was thrown down from Heaven are revealed there. Before I
proceed further, people who believe in Satan worship him and they think that he can give
you all that you want. Let me tell you he is a liar. He tempts you and uses you for his
purpose to prove you guilty in front of God and then torments you if you failed to do his
will. He can’t give life to anyone because he is created by God. How can he be greater than
God? He knows his time is near. And he is very angry. That’s the reason why he tempts us
to sin so that he can take us along with him to the fire of hell and burn. He hates us because
we have been created in God’s image and likeness and above all we are God’s children. And
he forgives us through Jesus Christ. But there is no forgiveness for Satan. Can he give his
life for you the way Jesus did on the cross? Can he die for you? Stop fooling yourselves.
And open your eyes and pray to the Father to reveal Satan’s tramps. Ask for forgiveness
and repent before it’s too late. When he can’t save himself how can he save you?
Now I proceed, God trusted Lucifer enough to give him a position of power among the
heavenly angels. Ezekiel 28:14. Lucifer became so consumed with pride over his God-given
splendor that he became corrupt, violent, and no longer willing to serve under God. Ezekiel
28: 15-17, Isaih 14: 13 -14. The sense of superiority led Lucifer to use his free will to
scheme to be greater than God and to assemble an army of angels to help him carry out
that plot. Ezekiel 28:17, Isaiah 14: 13-14, Revelation 12: 3-4, Revelation 12:9. According
to the Old Testament, upon learning of Lucifer’s plan, God removed him from his dignified
position and cast him out of heaven.
Isaiah 14:15, Ezekiel 28:16-17. This is often described as Satan’s “Fall from Heaven.”
Although it’s probably more accurate to say that he was exiled from Heaven.
Once Lucifer was thrown out of Heaven, he realized that he didn’t have the power to
directly take God’s throne from him. Instead, Lucifer set his sights on empowering God in
another way — by tempting God’s children to abandon him.
One way the devil devours our relationship with God and with one another is by tricking us
into believing that what is right and wrong is relative. Satan wants nothing more than for
each one of us to act as our own individual Gods, casting stones at each other based on our
moral code and denying the authority and commandments of the only God of the Universe.
To avoid falling into Satan’s traps we need to look no further than the cause of Satan’s
expulsion from paradise.
To be continued.
